Habitat : Liobagrus obesus is typically found over rock, rubble, gravel bottom in clear and cool pool in the main streams with moderate to low current, ranging from 30 to 150 m wide and ~ 2m deep. Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates.
Range: Endemic to South Korea(Ungcheon, Keum, Mangyeong and Yeongsan River).
Threats : Dredging, polluted sediments, sewage, mines, quarries, and revetment constructions appear to be main threats.
Conservation action : Artificial breeding and raising have been succeeded. Fry of this species were stocked to Jeonju River, a tributary to the Mangyeong River, in Jeonju County, Jeollabuk-do Province on June, 2005.
