Coreoperca kawamebari
(13cm)

Habitat : Coreoperca kawamebari lives in streams which support densely vegetated bottom and shore with low current, ranging from 3 to 200 m wide and over waist deep.  Feeds mainly on large aquatic insects and fish.

Range:  Native to South Korea(Samsan, Tamjin and Sanyang River) and western Japan.

Threats : Revetment construction and dredging are main threats to populations of all habitats. Sanyang River population in Keoje Island has been extirpated from the limited habitats by revetment constructions. This is because revetment construction and dredging have resulted in removal of  vegetation from the shore and the bottom. Damming also had have limited populations from upper Tamjin River.
Tamjin River population is, especially, suffering from serious overfishing by many aquarium hobbists and illegal commercial collectors.

Conservation action : No up-to-date report on recent distribution and population status and conservation plan.
