Habitat : Cottus hangiongensis is known as an amphidromous species. While fry live in the estuary for a couple of months, adults and young fish live in clear gravel and coarse sand riffle in streams ranging from 5 to 200 m wide and less than 1m deep. Feeds mainly on invertebrates and small fish.
Range: Native to the Northeast Asia: Russian Far East, North Korea, South Korea and Japan.
Threats : Revetment constructions and dredging are main factors of population decrease. Sewage, mine, quarries, pesticides, and sediments from farmlands(including rice paddies) are also appeared to be threats.
Conservation action : No report on conservation management plan.
