Habitat : Gobiobotia brevibarba typically occurs in streams ranging from 30 to 200 m wide amongst boulder, cobble, and gravel riffles with fast to torrential current. These cool, clear rivers run less than 80cm deep with richly forested shore. Feeds mainly on aquatic insects.

Range:  Endemic to South Korea(Han River drainage and Keum River).

Threats : Revetment construction, dredging, mines, quarries, impoundments, sediments from highland croplands, and livestock farmlands sewage are main threats. In addition, illegal overfishing by aquarium hobbyists and collectors appears to be a threat to populations from the Kangwon Province.

Conservation action : No report on conservation management plan.
