Habitat : Gobiobotia macrocephala is typically found in rivers ranging from 30 to 200 m wide amongst boulder, gravel and coarse sand riffles with fast to torrential current. These cool, clear rivers are usually less than 80cm deep. The shore of its habitat is typically richly forested. Feeds mainly on aquatic insects.

Range:  Endemic to South Korea(Han River drainage and Keum River drainage).

Threats : Revetment construction, dredging, mines, quarries, and impoundments are main threats as well as sediments from highland croplands, and livestock farmlands sewage. Also, illegal overfishing by aquarium hobbyists and collectors is threatening.

Conservation action : No report on conservation management plan.
