Habitat : Acheilognathus somjinensis is usually found over mud or sand-bottomed pool with clear, cool water, of which shore is rich-vegetated. This species spawn only into 2 speices of freshwater mussels, Pronodularia sp., and Inversiunio sp., which are sympatric (Takiko, Yang and Choi, 2007).

Range:  Endemic to South Korea(Seomjin River).

Threats : Revetment construction, dredging, and polluted sediment are main threats to this species and their spawning sites, freshwater mussels. Introduced predator, largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) also appear to be an main threat to this fish.

Conservation action : The Institute of Biodiversity Research of Chonbuk National University is working on conservation management plans.
