Habitat: Coarse sand, gravel, and rocky bottomed riffles or shallow pools directly connected to upper river or torrent headwater with moderate to torrential current. Feeds on invertebrates, frogs, and fish.

Range: Endemic to the Korean Peninsula (north to the Apnok River in North Korea, also called Yalu River in Chinese, the South Sea slope to the south).

Remarks: A popular food and game fish in mountainous regions.
