Habitat: Mud and sand bottomed and richly vegetated large rivers,  lagoons, ponds, reservoirs, lakes, or often small creeks directly connected to large lakes with low to moderate current or still water. Seems to prefer deep, warm, silty, and turbid waters. Feeds on large invertebrates, crabs, frogs, and fish.

Range: Native to:  western North Korea, South Korea, Japan, eastern China, Taiwan, northern Vietnam.

Remarks: One of the most popular freshwater food fish in South Korea. Also, a popular game fish. Historically presented in a great deal of arts, literatures, and legends in Korea, China, and Japan.
