Habitat: Coarse sand, gravel, and rocky bottomed riffles or pools connected to large rivers or headwaters with moderate to fast current. Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates.

Range: Endemic to South Korea (Han River and Samcheokoship River).

Remarks: A popular food fish in mountainous regions of Kangwon Province. Also, a nice aquarium fish. The population of Samcheokopship River, which was expected to be introduced from Han River by multiple stream captures during ancient periods, is in great need of protection.
