Habitat: Coarse sand, gravel, and rocky bottomed riffles or creeks with moderate to fast current and run less than 1m deep. Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates.

Range: Endemic to South Korea.

Remarks: A popular food fish in mountainous regions of Kangwon Province. Also, nice aquarium fish.  DaeMin Kim has recently been working on a study, "Phylogegraphy of a freshwater loach species, Iksookimia koreensis."
