Habitat: Almost any flowing waters with the only exceptions of torrent headwater, cold water in highland, and large gravel riffles of upper river. Seems to prefer warm, shallow, vegetated, turbid, and silty still waters. Omnivorous.
Range: Native to: Russian Far East, North Korea, South Korea, Japan, eastern China, Taiwan, northern Vietnam. Introduced to: the Europe, Australia and the U.S.
Remarks: One of the most popular freshwater food fish in South Korea. Also, a nice aquarium fish. Gas exchange with intestinal tract. Dominated in extremely polluted and disturbed rivers.
