Habitat: Coarse sand and gravel bottomed of river with moderate to fast current. Feeds on invertebrates.

Range: Native to the Korean Peninsula. Introduced to northeastern East Sea slope of South Korea.

Remarks: Shows several geographic morphological variations of male's breeding colour across its range. Locally a popular food fish. Also, a popular aquarium fish.
