Habitat: Various conditions of bottom. Usually spring runs, headwaters, small creeks, pools, drains and rice paddies in mountainous region. Feeds on invertebrates and plants.
Range: Native to Northeast Asia: Russian Far East, North Korea, South Korea, Japan, northeastern China.
Remarks: One of the most common freshwater fish in South Korea. A popular aquarium fish.
