Habitat: Various bottom conditions of rivers and lagoons with low to fast current. Feeds on snails, invertebrates, and fish. Adult fish swim up to middle reach of river to spawn. Sometimes young fish stay in freshwater over winter.
Range: Native to northeast Asia: Russian Far East, North Korea, South Korea, Japan.
Remarks: A popular food fish in the South Sea slope of South Korea. Unlike neighbor countries such as Japan and Russia, land-locked population has not been found in South Korea.
