Habitat: Sand and gravel bottomed rivers, lakes, and drains with low to moderate current. Seems to prefer non-turbid, shallow and quiet water. Feeds on benthic invertebrates.
Range: Native to Northeast Asia: Russian Far East, North Korea, South Korea, Japan and northeastern China. Introduced to Munam River(Goseong County) in East Sea slope, South Korea.
Remarks: A popular food fish in southern Chungcheongbuk Province.
