Habitat: Coarse sand, gravel, and rocky bottomed riffle with moderate to fast current. Feeds on invertebrates and plants.

Range: Native to Northeast Asia: northeasten China, Korean Peninsula(Yellow Sea slope and South Sea slope), western Japan. Introduced to East Sea slope in South Korea.

Remarks: A popular aquarium fish in South Korea.
