Habitat: Mud, sand bottomed and richly vegetated rivers, lakes, and drains with low to moderate current. Feeds on planktons and invertebrates.
Range: This species was known as an endemic species, as A. gracilis, to the South Korea. Kim and Kim (2009) found A. gracilis is a junior synonym of A. chankaensis that was known to be endemic to the northeastern China.
Remarks: As well as the other bitterlings, A.chankaensis spawns in freshwater mussel.
