Habitat: Richly vegetated rivers, lakes and drains with low current to still water. Feed mainly on small invertebrates and plants.

Range:  Russian Far East, western North Korea, South Korea, China, Vietnam.

Remarks: The largest bitterling species in South Korea. As well as the other bitterlings, A. macropterus spawns into freshwater mussels.
