Habitat: Almost any waters from disburbed creeks in downtowns of cities to headwaters of high mountains. Also tidal creeks and mud flats, lagoons, tidal spring runs, and rivers with various bottom conditions and low to moderate current. Seems to prefer vegetated shallow waters with corse sand and gravel bottom. Feeds mainly on invertebrates.
Range: Native to the Northeast Asia: Russian Far East, North Korea, South Korea, Japan, eastern China.
Remarks: Has an extreme diversity of habitats. Shows many morphological variations.
