Habitat: Tidal creeks and mud flats, lagoons, and rivers with usually mud and sand bottom and low to moderate current. Seems to prefer warm, marshy, and turbid shallow waters. Feeds on invertebrates and fish.

Range: Native to the Northeast Asia: North Korea, South Korea, Japan, and eastern China. Introduced to California, U.S.

Remarks: A well-known food fish in South Sea coastal regions.
